Day 14

Day 14

sunny 17 °C

Up early and off to the gym! Had a great morning talking to and seeing some special people! Off to my cousins, where her neighbour took a pic of us. As I was leaving my cousin asked if we could hug next week❤ I am a touchy, feely person so not hugging my family has been hard!
Unfortunately it is necessary. As I said, memories are still being created❤ Dad was up to a visit today:):) Stopped by to see Dad for a bit. Dad asked me to play some music again. I figured out that I can't listen to music and take video at the same time with my phone! Too bad , I thought I could have a video of my Dad enjoying the music! C'est la vie'
Dinner at Derrick and Laurie's. My nephew Tyler( who wrote a book at the age of 17) The Jewels of Fate( you can get it through Amazon!) was telling me a story about milk and cows tonight! bahahaha:) He was a little animated, so it was hard to get a clear pic of him! And Tyler its called UDDER! LOL

Day 13

Day 13

semi-overcast 15 °C

Great nights sleep! Up at 7:30 off to the gym!
Had a great morning, no where to go, nothing to do:):)
Shower, breakfast, food prep, journaled and drank coffee!
Finished work with Margaret around 1:30 ish.
Stopped at COBS bread to pick up buns and pumpkin scones for dinner!
Dad wasn't up for a visit today. So, I went to see the fam! Talked with my niece about "girl stuff" So happy that she can talk to me. When I was her age, I would never have talked to my Aunt like she talks with me. So grateful???????? My nephew had a midterm today, chatted about that! Eventually my sister
( in law) finished work for the day and we had a glass of wine, over the course of the evening that turned into MORE ???? LOL ! We laughed!
I wish I knew how to attach videos!
Because I don't, I will attach a few pics from the night! Thank you Laurie for a fun filled evening. I Love you all❤

Day 12

Day 12

sunny 16 °C

Up at 4am:( :( whats the saying " this too shall pass" lol Eventually fell back to sleep and finally got out of bed around 9am. Talk about sleeping in!:)
Joined up at Fit For Less so I have a gym to go to while I'm here. Laundry, shower, breakfast yadda yadda yadda. Lol
Worked with Margaret via phone for 3 hours! Went very well.
Talked to my Dad before heading over to see him, he asked me to get him his "stuff" Just for him!
Which means chocolate:)
Stopped at shoppers and grabbed some Aero balls, Lindt balls and a Jersey milk bar. I found out that apparently my dad can't eat mashed potatoes or mashed peas but chocolate, no problem! mmmm not sure about that! LOL But he's 81 so if that's what he wants then so be it!
While I was at shoppers I took a few pics of the "BIG SKY" just for you Karen ( hope you like it)
I created a playlist of music for my Dad back in March. I was supposed to fly home just as Covid was really ramping up. So,finally I was able to play the music for my Dad today! It was awesome❤ I would say that my father definitely influenced my love for music! It was great to watch his face light up when I played Bonnie Tyler's Its a Heartache" he started to sway and was trying to sing. He was a wee bit emotional as was I. Great visit today!
Went to see Derrick, Laurie, Tyler and Hailey , ordered Chinese food . One of my favorite things to do when I'm home is to sit at the dinner table and talk and laugh❤❤❤❤ Family, its a wonderful thing!
Still haven't hugged them yet! Super Weird!

Day 11

Day 11

rain 14 °C

Only woke up once in the night! Woot woot! LOL and not between 3and 4:)
It was cloudy and had intermittent rain for most of the day, until around Toronto.

I was chatting with my brother when I passed the Toronto/ Sudbury exit on the highway, I was relying on Google to tell me where to go and ended up taking a longer route than needed! DAMN GOOGLE! LOL
The most stress I've felt the entire trip was driving through Barrie/ Toronto/ Burlington/ Hamilton, the signs said 80km to 100 km but EVERYONE was driving 120 to 140. I took my chances that I wasn't going to get pulled over again! ALL GOOD! lol
Chatted with Tam in the AM and Jen.S as I was hitting Burlington, that woman always makes me laugh! So much so that I had tears in my eyes when we hung up! Can't wait to see everyone, NO HUGS , Face masks and 2 meters apart!
Called my Dad to let him know I was on the QEW and would see him tomorrow❤❤❤
I stopped in to see my Bother Derrick, sister Laurie and my nephew Tyler and my niece Hailey when I arrived in St. Catharines. Phoned died so no pics.
It's was really strange to stand away, not go into the house or give hugs.
That being said, I'm glad to be home for this visit and see everyone. It won't be the same as pre covid but memories will be made nonetheless!

Day 10

Day 10

rain 10 °C

When I started this solo road trip, my plan was to make it home to St. Catharines 3 says after leaving Calgary. Calgary to Manitoba ✔sleep, Manitoba to ThunderBay ✔sleep, ThunderBay to St.Catharines .....NO GO!!!! LOL
Waking up sometime between 3- 4am has become somewhat of the norm for me .. WHY ?? WHY?? LOL So as per the norm, I woke up at 3:15am and couldn't fall back to sleep, eventually I did and was having a wonderful sleep when someones car alarm went off at 6:20 am UGH!! I still felt pretty crappy , showered, packed and was pretty much ready to go around 7 when I had an epiphany, I'm still tired, how about I go back to bed!! And I did:):)
As much as I wanted to stay the course( my plan..lol) the advice I was given was running through my head. One more day wasn't going to change anything, getting more rest would be beneficial , less likely to have anything happen if I was rested and alert. I was on the road by 9:30am!
Sault Ste. Marie was now my destination not St. Catharines!
I hr into the drive a bird wasn't as lucky as the chipmunk!! I killed it! For anyone who has had a bird fly under your car, make a loud thud and hit a wheel , will understand the sinking, horrible feeling that comes over you. I apologized, not that it mattered but I felt terrible:(:(
It was raining on and off throughout the drive, just before Sault Ste. Marie the sun came out! . I decided to stop and smell the roses a couple times and took some incredible pics.
Found a hotel for the night, caught the sunset out my hotel room window. WHAT A VEIW!! Ordered room service, crab cakes and grilled shrimp, sooooo good!! Talked to my special peeps and enjoyed a glass of wine!
